Common Computer Problems

Posted in: Computer Help

Computers are great when they work – allowing you instant communication with the world, endless information to learn about and the ability to entertain the whole family. Problems begin, though, when a computer or computer components do not any longer work correctly. Without the right knowledge this can become extremely frustrating.

There are several reasons why a computer may fail or not function correctly. Here are some of the reasons.

Hardware Failure

As with anything that contains electronics or mechanical parts things can fail – it’s part of life. If this happens to you then once diagnosed, the faulty component can be replaced. Of course, the issue can be in diagnosing the fault in the first place.

Virus

Yes amazingly there are still people in this world who do not use anti virus software on their computer – even though there are many free applications to download to protect you. If you do get a virus on your computer you may find this can deteriorate your computers performance and even cause a total failure.

Spyware/adware

Whist this often is not as damaging as having a virus it can often clog up your computer and Internet connection causing an ultimately slow machine. Not to mention the security risks of having these on your machine. A free downloadable anti adware or spyware program should resolve this issue.

Crashes

Sometimes a computer goes slightly wrong and people panic – reboot your machine – it may solve your issue. Programs do crash which is a fact of life. Sometimes this is obvious but other times it can not be so obvious. A restart of your computer can often solve this issue.

Slow Computer

This is a common one – often after owning a computer for a long period, downloading trial software etc etc your computer is often trying to load a million programs on start-up that you do not even need – (do you have loads of icon down by the clock?). This is taking up valuable resources and will end up slowing you down. Either uninstall any unused programs or disable them from the start-up menu.
